How Long Does a Typical Bathroom Remodeling Take?
A realistic look at what happens week by week — so you can plan around it, especially if you only have one shower.
Timelines vary based on scope, materials, and permitting, but most full bathroom remodeling projects fall into the 4–8 week range once work begins on site. Here’s a simplified breakdown of what typically happens along the way.
Week 1: Demo & Rough-In
Old fixtures, tile, and finishes come out. Plumbing and electrical are updated for the new layout, and we confirm framing conditions once walls and floors are open.
Week 2–3: Substrates, Waterproofing & Tile
Backer board, pans, membranes, and tile work are installed. This stage is detail-heavy and often takes longer than people expect.
Week 4–5: Fixtures, Cabinets & Finishes
Vanities, tops, shower glass, lighting, accessories, and paint go in. The space finally starts to look like a finished bathroom.
Week 6+: Punch List & Adjustments
We walk the project with you, noting any adjustments or touch-ups needed so the space feels truly complete before we close out.
